Canon Wireless Connection Setup

Wireless Connection Setup for Canon Printer






  1. Insert the CD that came with your printer and run the setup. 
    If the “Setup CD-ROM” does not autorun, insert the CD-ROM into the computer again and click on [My Computer] or [This PC], select the CD-ROM and double-click [MSETUP4.EXE]
    If you do not have the CD (’s) that came with your product, please download the manuals and software
  2. When the initial screen appears, click on [Next]

  3. Select [Wireless LAN Connection] as a connection method, then click [Next]

  4. Select [Access Point Connection (recommended)] as the wireless LAN connection method then click [Next]

  5. Ensure that your printer is turned on, make sure the green power lamp is on and then click [Next]

  6. The software will now briefly search your network for any printers already connected. 
    If this is the first time you are setting up your printer it will not be found. So please ensure that [Setting printer could not be found on the list] is selected, then 



  7. click [Next]

  8. The Setup Guide Installation will now start.

  11. When the following screen appears, hold down the [Wi-Fi [MASTER] Wi-Fi Button] button (A) on the printer until the orange alarm lamp flashes 2 times and release after the second flash, then click [Next]

  12. Make sure that the blue Wi-Fi lamp flashes quickly and the green power lamp is lit, then click on [Next]

  13. The following message will be displayed

  14. Once the connection to the access point is completed click [Next]

  15. When the following screen appears, select your region and click [Next]

  17. When the following screen appears, select the software you wish to install, and then click on [Next]. If you’re not sure which software you want to install at this stage, don’t worry, as you can always uninstall it at a later stage if you wish.

  18. When the following screen appears, click on [Yes] to agree to the end user license agreement.

    If the following screen is displayed during the installation, click on [Redetect] to search for your printer again. 
    Depending on your network configuration, it may take a minute or so for the software to detect the printer. This may involve clicking on redetect a number of times.

  21. Once the Cableless setup is complete the following screen will be displayed to indicate the model of your printer and the name (or SSID) of your wireless network.  Click [Complete]

  22. If this is the first time you are setting up your printer, when the following screen is displayed, click on [Execute] and follow the on-screen instructions to perform the print head alignment, otherwise click on [Next]

  24. If you wish to register your printer at this stage click [Next], alternatively you can register later using the Quick Menu software, so click [Cancel]

  25. If you wish to take part in the Extended Survey Program click [Agree]. Alternatively, click on [Do not agree]

  26. If the following screen is displayed and you would like to send a test print to your printer, click [Execute]. If not, click [Next]

  27. Click on [Exit] to complete the installation.

Brother Printer Offline Support

The printer status is Offline or Paused. (For Windows®)

Please follow the steps below to solve this problem:
          


VERIFY THE BROTHER MACHINE IS POWERD ON AND THERE ARE NO ERRORS
  1. If the LCD screen is blank, then the Brother machine may not be powered on, check the machine to see if it wakes from sleep mode. If it does not, then verify that it is plugged into a working outlet and any power switches are turned to the ON position.
  2. Check the LCD screen for any error messages. An example would be "Paper Jam" or Ink/Toner Empty". If the LCD screen shows an error troubleshoot to clear the issue indicated.


MAKE SURE YOUR BROTHER MACHINE IS THE DEFAULT PRINTER
If the printer driver does not set "default printer", you can not print. Make sure your Brother machine is default printer. If your brother machine is not default printer, set it as default printer.

Open the printer folder and verify the check mark is on your Brother machine.
(Windows® XP)
Click Start => Printers and Faxes

(Windows Vista®)
Click Start => Control Panel => Hardware and Sound => Printers

(Windows® 7)
Click Start => Devices and Printers

(Windows® 8 or later)
  1. Open the Control Panel. (Click here to see how to open the Control Panel.)
  2. Click Hardware and Sound => Devices and Printers.

If the check mark is not on your brother machine, right click on the icon for your Brother machine and choose Set as default printer.

DELETE ALL PRINTER JOBS
(Windows® XP and Windows Vista®)
Double click on the icon for your Brother machine and choose Printer => Cancel All Documents.

(Windows® 7 or later)
Right click on the icon for your Brother machine => See what's printing => Printer => Cancel All Documents

If Cancel All Documents is gray out like below, click Open As Administrator. Enter a password for an administrator and click Yes.

CHECK THE PRINTER STATUS
Check your printer's status.

  • If the printer status is Offline:

    offline

    (Windows® XP and Windows Vista®)
    Right click on the icon for your Brother machine and choose Use Printer Online.
    If you are not the administrator, choose Run As administrator => Use Printer Online and click continue.

    (Windows® 7 or later)
    Right click on the icon for your Brother machine => See what's printing => Printer => Use Printer Offline (Take the checkmark off.)
    If Use Printer Offline is gray out, click Open As Administrator. Enter a password for an administrator and click Yes.

  • If the printer status is Paused:

    (Windows® XP and Windows Vista®)

    Right click on the icon for your Brother machine and choose Resume Printing. (If the menu reads Pause Printing, there is no problem in the printer status.)
    If you are not administrator, choose Run As administrator => Resume Printing and click continue.

    Right click on the icon for your Brother machine => See what's printing => Printer => Pause Printing (Take the checkmark off.)
    If Pause Printing is gray out, click Open As Administrator. Enter a password for an administrator and click Yes.

Set up your Brother Printer wireless

Configure the Brother machine for a network.








Follow the steps below:

For Wired network users:

Ensure that the network cable is connected to your machine and access point and the machine is powered on.


  1. Access point/router
  2. Wired Network machine (your machine)
  3. Wireless capable computer connected to the access point/router
  4. Wired computer connected to the access point/router



1. Before you set up your Brother machine

You must find out the wireless network settings of your wireless router or access point. Check and write down the current wireless network settings below (you will need this information later):
 

  • Network Name (also known as "SSID" or "ESSID")
  • Network Key (also known as "Password", "Security Key", or "Encryption Key")

How to find the Network Name (SSID) and Network Key (Password)

 

  1. Check the base or side of your wireless router or access point.
  2. See the documentation provided with your wireless router or access point.

Brother cannot provide this information. If you cannot find your wireless Network Name and Network Key, contact your Internet service provider or router manufacturer.

After checking the network information of your wireless router or access point, go to step 2 to set up your machine on a wireless network.

If your wireless router or access point uses WEP encryption with multiple WEP keys, write down and use only the first WEP key.


 

2. Set up a Brother machine on a wireless network

When you have located the wireless network settings of your wireless router or access point, set up your Brother machine as described in the setup video below.

Text-based Instructions

 

To set up your Brother machine on a wireless network:

 

  1. Connect the power cord to your Brother machine and then connect it to an electrical socket.
    Turn your Brother machine on.
     
  2. Press Menu button on the machine's control panel.
     
  3. Press the Up or Down arrow key to select Network and press OK.
     
  4. Press the Up or Down arrow key to select WLAN and press OK.
    (This step may not apply to all machines.)
     
  5. Press the Up or Down arrow key to select Setup Wizard and press OK.
     
  6. When WLAN Enable? appears, select Yes to enable the wireless network.
    This will start the wireless setup wizard.
     
  7. The machine will search for your network and display a list of available Network Names (SSIDs).
    When a list of SSIDs appears, press the Up or Down arrow keys to select the SSID you wrote down earlier, and then press OK.
     
  8. Do one of the following:
     
    • If using an authentication and encryption method that requires the Network Key (Password)
      Enter the Network Key, then press OK to apply your settings. Select Yes to apply the settings.
       
    • If your authentication method is Open System and your encryption mode is None
      Go to the next step.
  9. The machine tries to connect to the wireless network you have selected.
     
    If your Brother machine connected successfullyIf the connection failed

    The machine's LCD displays Connected.
     

    Connected

    The machine will print a wireless connection report. Check the error code on the printed report.

    Connection failed

    The machine will print a wireless connection report.
